Interventionists

Drug Problems are a fact of life in today’s day, but when they reach crisis level, a professional interventionist is sometimes required to help one who is trapped in a quagmire of personal problems.  It is reassuring to know that there are people out there prepared and equipped to help those in need.  Drug and Alcohol Addiction Interventionists are trained and knowledgeable professionals that can assist victims of serious personal problems, trauma, and detriment.  Even in family interventions, it is advisable to have an experienced interventionist present to make sure the intervention is handled properly and with the utmost care.

An interventionist’s aim is to encourage a drug addict or alcoholic to get into a treatment program or rehab facility – and to keep them there until they are treated.  An interventionist cannot provide treatment alone, but can help one take that big step from addiction to sobriety.  Being a victim of addiction is difficult, accepting the fact that you are a victim, more so.  Most of the time, one needs the assistance of his fellow man, and, in times like these, an interventionist is best equipped to help.

An interventionist’s best friends are the family members, friends, and loved ones of the person embarking on an intervention.  These people tend to put the person at ease because there is an element of trust involved.  Apprehension and a tendency to be defensive are natural reactions and are to be expected, especially when faced with an unfamiliar interventionist.  Interventions are never easy for anyone, and interventionists are here to make sure that these interventions benefit the afflicted individual and all the people involved, be they family members, friends, colleagues, or a loved one.  Addiction is a disease that affects not only an individual, but all those close to him or her.  Treatment, therefore, should involve all people affected by the individual’s addiction and its consequences.

Interventionists do not have an easy task; however, together with an afflicted individual’s family, friends, and loved ones, an intervention can make all the difference between a life of addiction and one of happiness and sobriety.
